Current Goal

Now that Owen the Pug has found the southwest's deserts, he has a new mission...He wants to find his way to the Florida Keys - the farther south, the better! As usual, he would also like to stop in as many microbreweries and bars as possible along the way. Take pictures if you can, and get him to the keys as soon as possible!

Sorry we had him for so long, but we knew we were headed to San Antonio (and at the time he wanted to go to the Southwest). Also, Owen was having lots of fun at New Orleans bars said he wanted to hang around for Carnival (that's Mardi Gras if your not from down here).

There were many picutes, but Owen is not terribly photogenic so here are some selected ones...

  • Owen waiting for his breakfast daiquiri Owen was really impressed with the idea of a drive thru window at the Daiquiris and Creams.
  • Two Dogs Stayed in to watch Turner and Hooch so decided to grab a couple six packs. Owen insisted we try the two dogs brew (don't tell him that Mike's is better).
  • Turbo Dog He had already been to the Abita Brew Pub, but he insisted he try our local Turbodog microbrew.
  • It's Carnival Time Owen with some of the stuff he got at the Mardi Gras Parade.
  • Ruby's Roadhouse Ruby's Roadhouse -- great drinks and great live music on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. (Owen is on the mailbox to the right of the door in front of the Jagermeister board)

  • Owen bar-hopping in the French Quarter This is the only one we got -- most seem to be a little out of focus for some reason. (He's right under the 'H' in 'catch'.)
  • Old New Orleans Bar Hanging out behind the bar somewhere in New Orleans. Didn't keep track of which picture was taken where as well as we could have.
  • The Morning After Whoa, she looked a lot cuter last night ... this adds a whole new dimension to "Coyote Ugly".
  • Lagers All Dogs Go to Heaven, but beer drinkers go to Lagers. (Unfortunately the mirror ruined all the pictures with Owen in them).
  • Mad Dogs in San Antonio Look what we found shortly after arriving in San Antonio!
  • Inside Mad Dogs Owen really liked this place although he was a bit upset when he found out the bone wasn't real.
  • By the taps at Mad Dogs We tried three different microbrews here at Mad Dogs -- Fat Tire, Big Bark and Alamo Pale Ale. Of course, we had several Guinness Stouts, too.
  • More Bars on the Riverwalk Had a couple more pints on the Riverwalk in San Antonio.
  • A lot of beer for a little dog. On the way to a cache to drop off Owen on our last day in San Antonio we saw the Big Pappa of beer cans -- that's a lot of beer for a little dog.

He seems to be very popular as he was snatched up before we could log the drop! We're glad that he's with some partiers but be careful that he doesn't overdo it in the French Quarter. Also, he was hoping to watch LSU win the Sugar Bowl. Geaux Tigers!

Found this guy in Louisiana Geocacher's Mudbug Fest cache. He hasn’t been logged back in yet, but don’t worry we’ll keep Owen busy while we wait. He is in New Orleans where it is warmer (77º) but it’s still pretty humid (87%) But baby we’ve got bars!😈 2 out 3 ain’t bad.

P.S. Owen's said he's ready for some REAL beer - not Rootbeer or light beer!

  • Owen at Prescott Brewing Co. Owen loved the Prescott Brewery. It was cold here the day after Christmas so we stopped here for food and fun.
  • one brew makes him tough. Owen, as small as he is, was getting tough with the photographer.
  • too many! The holiday garland grabbed him as he admired the vats.

We grabbed Owen the Pug and he was glad to see we had a
micro brewery with us at the base of the Sawtooth Mountains.
Off we go through the southwest desert!

  • Owen ready for a brew in the desert Owen said it was really dry and dark in that cache. He was so thirsty and asked if we saw all those soldiers in there.
It was a whole army! He is glad to be on his way through the desert seeing all the cactus.
