I finally sent Dolly on her way again, had been waiting to take her to a doll exhibit in Colorado Springs that was to open Nov. 10. Come to find out that the web announcement was from LAST YEAR, but the ad said 2008!! Go figure. So today I tracked down the Simpich Doll's home base to get some photos. They are renovating and the windows were papered over. I took a pic of Dolly in front of the poster with the words Doll Museum in view.

    • Dolly outside Simpich Doll Museum This doll museum is under renovation and not open yet. So I took a picture of Dolly Daydream outside this famous doll-maker's soon to be new home.

I rescued Dolly from a troubled cache this weekend. Having researched doll museums in the area, I found an upcoming event that I think she will truly enjoy. Will hang on to her for just under 2 weeks so that she can have her picture taken with this interesting group of dolls. gollie.
"The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum's exhibit starting Nov 10, 2008 will feature the world-famous Simpich Character Dolls from Old Colorado City's own Simpich Company. This exhibit highlights a wonderland of doll figurines taken from fairytales, holiday traditions, literature, and history.........With well over 100 figurines,..........Included in the exhibit are examples of the first Caroler set ever made, as well as Cloud Babies, Angels, Santas, and Elves. Also incorporated are storybook dolls such as Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, historical figures including Abraham Lincoln and David Simpich's creative circus marionettes...."[EDIT: THIS EVENT WAS FROM LAST YEAR!--FROM A WEB SEARCH THAT POSTED 2008 IN ERROR.....SO i JUST TOOK DOLLY'S PICTURE OUTSIDE THE STILL-CLOSED DOLL MUSEUM.......]

Retrieved Dolly so she wouldn't be muggled by some kids building a fort nearby. (the cache she was in wasn't closed and some contents were on the ground nearby.) But Dolly seems fine. Will find a photo opportunity for her.
