About This Item

Pathtag Sherpa 2009 Geocoin

Large coin with lots of heft. 1.75 inches 4 mm thick silver.  Available in other metal/enamel colors. Another great Chris Mackey design.  Unusual design with a place to put a path tag in the reverse medallion. There is a magnet that holdsa  pathtag in place. Very similar in color and design to the Blarney Coin GC.The front has lots of slight 3-D work and glitter enamel. The rim has script that reads "Old Sherpa saying "The faithful Sherpa will carry you through...Maybe true. Maybe not true....Better you believe."   The reverse has bold 3-D work in sript that reads "Pathtag Sherpa".  Very nice coin made nicer by the trick of holding a pathtag.

Info on the coin:  The best of both worlds! Turn your Pathtag into a world traveler with this unique Geocoin. The coin comes with a new Pathtag in the center which matches the coin's style. Held in with a magnet, the tag pops out (with some effort! Your tags will not go anywhere on accident!) allowing you to replace it with your own tag or a favorite from your collection. Then you can send it out in the world!

The Pathtag system and the new Pathtag Sherpa is a great way for an individual to create a custom personal item and make a set of them trackable at Geocaching.com without having to pay for an entire set of trackable personal Geocoins. A set of 250 codes and icons costs $375. For $175 + S/H now you can have your first 50 Pathtags and buy 10 Pathtag Sherpas. It's a great way to get the best of both worlds. Access to the Pathtags online community for trading and tracking Pathtags and real Geocoin travelers on Geocaching.com.

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
