About This Item

AMTG Sanibel Island Lighthouse Benchmark GC 1

Large coin with a lot of heft. Front has the lots of 3-D metal work. The lighthouse is done in detail as is the two adjacent buildings. The background metal texture is nice and the beach sand is well done. The rim is raised with etched script. It rads "Sanibel Island Lighthouse Benchmark PID AG1232". There are two starfish on either side of the rim. The reverse uses the same background texture. The medallion has a raised map with etched 3-D for the roads and boundary lines. There is a small inner medallion done in light blue enamel that shows the state of Florida. The location of the lighthouse is pointed out by a black indicator and a red enamel circle. The "Gulf of Mexico" and "Sanibel Lighthouse" is scripted in crisp 3-D. The rim has more etched starfish. Excellent coin. --------------- Coin info: Built in 1884, it is the oldest standing structure on Sanibel Island, Florida, and is a great historical mark to visit. Even Thomas Edison and Henry Ford used to visit this island. The coin features a 3-D image of the lighthouse and a map of the island. -------------------------------------------------------So many of my trackables have been muggled that I release them a virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. CR

It's "Australia Day" today, dates back to the day when a fleet of 11 British ships brought a wave of violence and disease to Australia. And planted a flag. I and many others call this day "Invasion Day" and want the day changed to a different day, to reflect that people have lived in this country for tens of thousands of years, and not just the last 200 or so. (Having said that I am Australian-born to Australian-born parents, but not indigenous to this country of 27 million people.

Discovered virtually with the kind permission of AMTG. Thanks for sharing, and big cheers from the Central Coast (near Sydney), New South Wales, Australia! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
