RED DOG

The Pilbara Wanderer (Karratha/Dampier Western Australia)

Born in 1971, Red Dog, a Kelpie/Cattle dog cross. He was originally owned by a young miner who lost his life in a tragic motor cycle accident. Following his masters death Red Dog lived a life roaming the Pilbara befriending anyone who would offer him a feed or a ride. He belonged to no-one and would often sit by the roadside, hitch a ride somewhere and refuse to get out of the vehicle until reaching the destination of his choice.

Red Dog was known by many of the locals throughout the Pilbara and he travelled to many locations including Karratha, Dampier, Roebourne, Point Sampson, Port Hedland, Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Broome and even Perth. He had an amazing homing instinct, always returning to either Dampier or Karratha where he preferred to base himself.

Red Dog died in November 20th, 1979, it is believed he had been poisonned by strychnine bait.

I've hitched a ride with a new friend who is going to help me get to America😁.
He is maybe going to drop me off at the Spirit of Tasmania.
He picked me up not far from the Mersey White Water course. He told me about another cache you are going to love - the Aztec King. You can access it by 4wd and nearby Tullah has plenty of hydro lakes to go kyaking on.
