ENGLISH:
This very special geocoin was made to celebrate the unofficial World Record of Geocaching, set by the Danish team DK08, in Sacramento, California, on May 18, 2008. The team, which consisted of 7 profiles with a total of 8 people, found 315 geocaches in 24 hours. As far as anyone knows, this performance has not yet been surpassed, anywhere in the World.
One side of the coins carries the number "315" in giant digits, surrounded by the texts "SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA - MAY 18, 2008" and "315 CACHES IN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS". This side has a certain 3D-effect, as the number 315 is bulging out.
The other side has the names of the participating profiles: ELMBAEK, GJENSEN, PICHT, SCHULEIT, SJANTEN, TOTTOMMY, ZOOOR. Also a "link" to the webpage http://www.powercaching24h.com/, where you can read a little more about the record and the rules which were set up for the attempt.
In the center of this side is Gx, the general geocaching symbol, and the team name "DK08". Between the edge with the profile names and the Gx-symbol is a random selection of the GC-codes corresponding to the geocaches wich were found during the attempt. Unfortunately it proved impossible to include all of the 315 codes with the selected production technique. The codes appear in very, very tiny letters, but are readable. The codes form a spiral, which starts from the outside, and very symbolically ends in the center, at the goal, Gx - geocaching.
As a special feature, exactly 315 coins have been produced, individually numbered 1 to 315, and each coin of course also has its own individual tracking number. This particular coin has serial # 7, my lucky number.
The coin has been produced for DK08 to geocoin.dk by Crake in the USA. We are proud of the fact that we managed to get this excellent coin artist to design and produce the coin for us. The coin is only sold through geocoin.dk and cachen.dk. The coin was first unveiled and offered for sale at an event (Teknikevent i Københavnstrup II, GC1PCXE) on May 10th, 2009.
The coin is made in classical Crake style - large (2" = 50,8 mm), heavy (59 gram = 2.1 oz) and super detailed. The finish is antique gold (what else?)
