Za jistých okolností nebezpecný kámen.Ríká se totiž,že nevera ci podvod dokážou hned zakalit lesk safíru.Zjevný podvod muže dokonce zpusobit,že se kámen uvolní ze svého lužka.Krome toho chrání pred nebezpecím a zmírnuje porodní bolesti.Podle svaté Hildegardy má safír pusobit i jako anafrodiziakum.Jestliže je žena proti své vuli obtežovaná láskou nejakého muže,má-li v tom prsty rert,ona nebo nekdo jiný vyleje trikrát vodu na safír a rekne pritom:"Leju te pres toto víno do plápolajícího ohne.Tak jako Buh odnal tvuj lesk dáblovi,odejmi ode mne vášnivou lásku tohoto muže.".K tomu má být safír nošen na srdci,udržovat je zdravé,chránit cudnost nositelky a zakalit se,hrozí-li neco zlého.
