Current Goal

Fire Eater originates from Ottawa and will be flying South to Atlanta. From there he would like to make his way up North to Toronto and land in one of Fire Eater's (the geocacher) cache. Along the way, Fire Eater would also like to have his picture taken with the vast variety of Fire Trucks out there (eg. Platforms, Aerial's, Engine's, Rescue units, Tankers, Tillers, etc.)

About This Item

This travel bug is a toy Fire Fighter that is named after a real Fire Fighter and fellow geocacher, Fire Eater.

Found this cute Travel Bug in Robbins Park Cache. I actually live right next to a fire station! But, alas, I have no digital camera, so I can't post any pictures, but I'll be sure to show Fire Eater some new fire trucks!! I'll also move him on shortly, either next weekend, or the weekend after, at the SEPAG Storms the Castle Picnic.

Today, Fire Eater visited the students at Energy Express, a summer program designed to help underpriviledged children read and maintain good nutrition throughout the summer. The program is part of Americorps. Fire Eater took the students down to the Huttonsville/Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Company and showed them the fire trucks. His fellow firefighters explained the equipment to the children and even let them spray some water from the fire hoses.

  • Fire Eater visits Energy Express Here he is showing the Americorps banner.
  • Fire Eater at the Mill Creek fire station Here he is on one of the trucks.
  • Fire Eater with another truck
  • Fire Eater with yet another truck Fire Eater liked this truck. He wanted to take it, but the fire company needed it.
  • Fire Eater with a tanker truck This truck hauls water to those places too far out to get municpal water. Very important in small rural towns like Mill Creek.
  • Fire Eater sprays some water Fire Eater and his firefighter friend show the kids how to use a fire hose.
  • Fire Eater's accident There was a little accident when one of the children got a little too excited to see Fire Eater. After a little medical attention, however, Fire Eater was just as good as new.

The fireman is going to go with me to rescue some caches from the wild hills of WV. Tomorrow, he'll be taking children to visit the firehouse in Mill Creek, WV. Then, on Thursday, he'll be visiting his good friend, Smokey the Bear.
