The goal of this coin is to spread the message of Bike Awareness, while travelling from cache to cache anywhere in the world.

About This Item

Todie Joe Phillips

On August 12, 2008, Tod Phillips was riding a motorcycle when he was killed in an accident caused by a left turning vehicle. Tod was the third member of Team Rod & Tod w/KAboom. This coin is released in his memory. The coin is part of the Bike Awareness project, started by Rockin Roddy.


Inattention, inexperience, fatigue, drugs, alcohol, insufficient maintenance, bad weather conditions, speeding and illegal manoeuvres are given reasons for causing accidents. YOU have the power to do something to control each of these factors. Give a good example while riding/driving your self. Practice what you have learned in your driving lessons and from your experience. Ride/drive save and in a defensive, anticipating style. Check your mirrors and watch for the more vulnerable travic participants. Start a discussion and make people aware they can help save lives. Imagine what the effect of spreading this message can be.

Ik heb zelf ook motor gereden maar mijn BMW is al jaren geleden verkocht. Maar het heeft mij wel veel verkeersinzicht opgeleverd. Ik hoop dat dat mij helpt om iedere dag weer veilig thuis te komen. Je blijft echter altijd (een beetje) afhankelijk van andere verkeersdeelnemers. De nieuwste campagne "Veilig thuis komen heb jezelf in de hand" spreekt mij daarom wel aan. Waarbij het natuurlijk niet alleen om je eigen hachie gaat maar ook je verantwoordelijkheid jegens medeweggebruikers wordt aangesproken. Iron Six

We are not bikers, but trikers. STILL we know about the dangers threatening the often fast and nimble motorcyclists.
In honour of Tod: Live to ride, ride to live, BUT DO IT SAFELY!!
May this coin make motorists aware of the dangers and save at least one life, then it will have reached it's goal.
