About This Item

AMTG Silly Animal Hear No Evil GC 1

Large coin with heft. 2 inches 3 mm thick black nickel.  Unusual shape. The front has enamel work in cartoon like depiction of a monkey. The 3-D is in the rim and edge work. The reverse is plain black  nickelwith raised script that reads "Hear No Evil". Part of a series. Just for fun coin.

Info on the coin:  The three monkeys became popular once they were available as emojis. “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”. and sometimes a fourth monkey joins, that stands for “do no evil”.

The concept of the three monkeys originated from a simple play on words. the saying in japanese is mizaru, kikazaru, iwazaru = “see not, hear not, speak not”, where the -zaru is a negative conjugation on the three verbs, matching zaru, a form of saru = “monkey”. thus the saying (which does, by the way, not include any specific reference to “evil”!) can also be interpreted as referring to three monkeys. the name of the fourth monkey is, by the way, shizaru (“do not”).

So many of my trackable have gone muggled that I only release my GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a chacher that understands. Thanks. AR

Interesting that even though it was adopted over to me, it still shows her holding it, even though I actually have it!

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
