Took a group of "travelers" to this beautiful memorial on the Gettysburg Battlefield, in south-central PA, USA. π At this site, the first shots were fired early in the morning of JULY 1, 1863.... 146 years ago today. This would be the start of the Battle of Gettysburg, and three of the bloodiest days of the American Civil War. Today there stands an eternal flame of peace, in hopes that we will remember these events, not to glorify them, ... but to remember, honor those who died, and never repeat them.
This morning on this anniversary, there were about 200 people there!! As locals, we have never seen this place so crowded. From the place we took the photos, you can't tell, but on the cache page, we captured the crowd. π
