Molten In Time is a lover of sunshine and warmer than average places. It can be quite content worn as a necklace against the bosom of a sun-drenched geocacher. There are no particular restrictions to this T/B. Traveling to volcanic sites, such as those around the Ring Of Fire would be excellent, and travel to other sites where time is kept by the passage of the sun and moon would be wonderful as well. Submit an occasional photo would be great.
Molten In Time is a geological word-play of Frozen In Time. Timeless no matter the temperature, it is a small sundial that when correctly oriented North/South and has sunshine applied, will tell the local time. The tag has been stamped with the name, and it is securely on the T/B with a couple of small split rings.
HOW TO OPERATE A FLAT SUNDIAL
1. The outline around the stone setting is calibrated with all four compass points with the gnomon (vertical indicator) aligned North. Correctly used, it may be used as a sundial as well as a compass.
2. To use as a SUNDIAL: Match the North compass point with True North. The shadow cast by the gnomon will indicate the correct hour of the day (hour lines inscribed). Inscribed hours are calibrated fro Daylight Savings Time; for corrected Standard Time, subtract one hour from the indicated time.
3. To use as a COMPASS: Turn the sundial until the shadow cast by the gnomon falls across the correct hour of the day. When set to the proper time, the gnomon will be pointing North. The same rules apply for Daylight Savings or Standard Time, as outlined above.
