Like golden coins in the pockets of explorers Henry Hudson and Samuel de Champlain, the beautiful Catskills Live! Quadricentennial Challenge geocoin was designed to set sail from Ulster County and the Hudson River Valley to voyage throughout New York State and throughout the world - riding rivers and trails and the high seas, traveling overland through beautiful forests and parks and coasting over mountain airways. The goal of this coin is to find adventure in the hands of bold explorers!
Hundreds of these geocoins are being released in celebration of the 400th anniversary of New York State and the opening of the New World by Henry Hudson and Samuel de Champlain (see www.NY400Challenge.com). We will map the distribution of these coins as they span the globe, much like the commercial and natural fruits borne from the 1609 voyages of Hudson and Champlain. Please share in our mission by furthering the travels of these pre-activated geocoins.
