Please help me get to Pasadena, California, USA. While there, I would love for someone to take me on a tour of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory where the Mars Rovers were built. Please add a picture to your log... I would love to send back photos of all the interesting people and places I meet along the way... I am an exploration rover after all!
Spirit and its twin rover, Opportunity, were launched in the summer of 2003 and landed on Mars in January 2004 for missions originally planned to last for three months. Spirit has been silent since March 22, 2010, but Opportunity is still actively exploring Mars. Spirit launched June 10, 2003, softlanded January 4, 2004 (UT) in Gusev crater (14.82 S, 184.85 W). Opportunity launched July 7, 2003, softlanded January 25, 2004 (UT) in Meridiani Terra (2.07 S, 6.08 W).
The original travel space shuttle coin and Mars Rover tag went missing, so a replacement tag was launched. You can get your own custom trackables at http://geogz.com/track.
