I am trying to visit 49 of the United States. I have officially "visited" a state if I have 1. Found a cache there. 2. "Marked" my spot there!
I like to meet other cachers....especially if they have food! I have visited 46 of the United States as a dawg! However, the map below shows the states that I have been to as a travel bug.

Dawg and her team rode the bikes out to his cache. It would have been a looonnnnnggggg boring walk on a relatively flat road. Good thing the bikes were around! It took a while to find the cache because there were so many rocks around. As it turns out, it wasn't in the big pile of rocks. Lunch by the lake was nice and peaceful. The water level looks pretty low but there should still be plenty for humans to waste on watering lawns and washing SUVs! The ride back was quick.

Dawg enjoyed her walk to this cache because it was soft on her hands and feet. Dawg and her pesky little sister posed for a picture on the Pacific Crest Trail Monument.

This was Dawg's second attempt at this cache. The first time, she went out and decided not to attempt the gnarly spot in the road in her Orange Box. She went camping that night and roasted marshmallows on her mom's new stove. Today, she got up at 430 a.m. and headed out before it got too hot. This time she brought the mountain bikes for her family to ride from the gnarly spot to the trailhead. As it turns out, her dad got creative and found another way around the gnarly spot and she rode in her Orange Box all the way to the trailhead. There was some tip toeing through the chollas and eventually Dawg found the 'trail'. The hike up to the cache area was absolutely beautiful! There were all lots of little flowers all over the place. The powder cans in the wall were interesting. The tafoni in the rocks were very cool. Dawg and her family hung out on the rocks for a short while and rehydrated before heading back to the car before it got hot.

Dawg started the first attempt on this cache from the south. She led her team to within about 400 feet of this cache before turning the team back. Her dad has acrophobia and the nearby cliffs kinda freaked him out. The rest of the team was ready to go splash around in the cool pools below on this hot day but it was not meant to be. The second attempt was from the north. This time, Dawg's dad was ready for the for the challenge and the team followed him down into the canyon from the same approache that drove us back last time. He also found the cache. After signing the log, the whole team enjoyed eating lunch next to the water and Dawg had a great time rolling in the wet sand.

This wasn't a totally unpleasant walk but it was kinda gross. It figures that what looks like a toxic waste dumping area has been turned into a wildlife refuge. See? We gave the animals a place to go! It will kill them, but at least they can go there! Crossing the bridges was a bit tricky for Dawg. Not her favorite cache by far.
