About This Item

In 2005, Groundspeak gave Volunteer Geocoins to site volunteers, and they must like my work Moderating in the Getting Started and the "How Should I.." forums. This coin really wants to travel rather than being on a shelf or a collectible stand and since it's been gathering dust for 10 years, I thought that releasing them into the wild on their 10th anniversary and the 15th anniversary of the release of Selective Availability was a nice gesture.

Placing this coin in a cache near to home, on the 15th anniversary of the release of Selective Availability. Selective Availability ended a few minutes past midnight EDT after the end of May 1, 2000. The change occurred simultaneously across the entire satellite constellation (so at 11:00 PM CDT on May 1, but the actual date of release of SA was officially May 2, 2000).
