A large coin with lots of heft. 2 inches 7.5 mm thick ice lear. 500 coins mited. This is a polymer show coin. The front has etched compass rose design with a commercial "G" in the center. The reverse has etched script that reads "Crystal Compass Rose Geocoin", "CompassRoseGeocoin.com" and the tracking number. Available in other crystal colors. Best seen at a slight angle. Good coin.
Info on the coin: Info on the coin: Born from the deserts of western Asia, the Crystal Compass Rose Geocoin is made of pure glass and available in three different shades of color. Each coin is individually cut from very thick glass. The coin features a compass rose design on the front side with text on the backside. The compass rose design is extensively sandblasted into the front side to provide a deep relief image for a quality feel. The coin is then put through a delicate hand polishing process to give it a crystal clear appearance. The hand polishing process provides numerous small, flat, and slightly refractive surfaces on the edge making each coin subtly different from another. Due to the large amount of hand labor that goes into making them, it can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to complete a small batch of these coins.
The first Compass Rose Geocoin was minted in the summer of 2005. In each of the following years, another part was released by CoinsAndPins.
This series is intended to pay homage to compass navigation before the age of GPS.
The designs used are based on actual compass roses that were used on nautical charts, maps, and compasses before GPS took over this task.
Created from the quartz sands of the deserts of Western Asia, the Crystal Compass Rose Geocoin was released as a special glass issue in addition to a metal geocoin to celebrate the 5th anniversary in the first week of September 2009.The
50 x 7 mm geocoins were individually made of very thick glass in the three shades of clear glacial ice, Amazon forest green and earth brown. They have a compass rose design on the front that is heavily sandblasted to create a deep relief image. The text and tracking code on the back are engraved.
Finally, each geocoin has undergone a fine hand-polishing process to give it a crystal-clear appearance. The hand polishing process created numerous small, flat and easily breaking surfaces on the edge, making each coin slightly different from the other.
So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release new GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. CR

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
