CharlaCrab would like to travel around from cache to cache with families and children visiting interesting and/or educational places. She would especially love to come to your childs (or if you are a teacher, your) class and be used for show and tell or to help you talk about your travels or help teach about sea creatures.
This is one of several travel bugs I have activated in memory of my late wife, Charla. Charla was an Early Childhood teacher and lost her battle with Cancer in March of 2008. This finger puppet is one of Charla's many props that she used in her classroom. Charla Smith, age 47, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Imperial, Neb., on Oct. 5, 1960, the daughter of Jack and Shirley Ballard. Charla graduated from UW-Stout in 1983. She married Colby Smith on April 28, 1984. Charla gave birth to twin sons, who were the light of her life, on Sept. 12, 1985. She earned her master's degree in early childhood education in 1997. Charla's last 10 years of teaching were spent in McFarland, where she loved the kids and they loved her. Along with teaching she enjoyed traveling with her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Charla's Fund, a living memorial that will provide financial resources to families unable to afford community preschool services, being started by the McFarland School District.
