To travel the world, just like my namesake. Photos of cache locations would be great, but a simple note explaining your experience with me would be wonderful as well.
My grandmother (who was born in Langdon, ND) passed away last March, at 92. She led quite a remarkable life, most especially after retirement. Leading an austere life up until the end of her days afforded her the opportunity for her one, beloved extravagance: traveling the world. Since the mid-80's I don't think a year went by when she didn't take at least one -- often three -- trips to different countries. She was in Tienanmen Square a day before the violent crackdown on protesters, and went back to China several times afterward. Wherever she went -- Paris, Machu Picchu, Bangkok, etc. -- she took hundreds of photos, eventually filling 2 huge bookshelves with albums from every trip. So this Travel Bug is to take up where she left off: traveling the world, until lost. Yes, the accompanying item is custom-made. As you may already have suspected, it contains a small portion of my grandmother's ashes. Though not especially elegant, it is water-tight and quite secure. Some may find the idea of shuttling dusty remains around the world from hand to hand morbid or immoral. I believe it's no more so than leaving them in a jar on your mantle for visitors to gawk at. If you're offended or uncomfortable at the prospect, please return it to wherever you got it from. Thanks!
