Current Goal

Fred the Duck is trying to get to a cache near San Francisco, in California, United States to reunite with his owner, rohanUK, who is working there (though any cache in Northern California would be good)

Fred's first task was to get back to Cheltenham, UK, and although he almost succeeded (getting to the right county) it wasn't before RohanUK moved 5,500 miles away :-( So Fred is off on a new mission to travel to America and catch his owner again!

Starting of from "Kiddies Hollow" on the North Down shore of Belfast Lough - Northern Ireland , Fred's task is work his way to his goal in the south of England, via whatever interesting places (or countries!) he happens to travel through. Please feel free to post any photos of Fred on his travels, as well as any tales of what he (or you!) get up to on the way!

Unfortunately at some point the tag must have fallen off Fred and he was taken without it, after going though a short spell as a Lion, Fred is now a duck again.

  • The Springtime in Coloma V, Coloma, CA I'm on the ground checking out Old Hippie and Granny's VW van. Notice the travel but tag by the left rear tailight. It really is a travel bug.
  • Springtime in Colma V, Coloma, CA A great bunch of people, these RCGDS guys. We had a great time. The Lower Fork of the American River is to the right, where gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill in 1848.

Discovered today at the RCGDS Springtime in Coloma event. This tb would fit right in, in our bathroom at our house is it is all ducks!! Very cool to see TB that has traveled so far.

Checked out the Thrill of the Hunt cache after the MS Walk and before we got our table for lunch at the Fox and Goose.

  • At the California State Capitol, Sacramento Going on the 10K MS Walk in Sacramento which was about to start when this picture was taken early on a Sunday morning.
  • Bagpipes led the way at the MS Walk Bagpipes were a great send off as we began the walk around the Capitol grounds.

Picked up the duck to take it to San Francisco. It will get there in May when I go there to an Orienteering event (baoc.org). Between now and then, it will see a bit of California. It will visit Sacramento and waddle through the MS Walk, and then the next week, go to a River City Geocaching and Dining Society (rcgds.net) event in Coloma, CA.
