Question: What is the difference between a fire engine and a fire truck?

Answer: Since Fire Engines and Fire Trucks perform significantly different functions at a fire scene, they are very different. Fire engines are equipped with hoses and water so that personnel can aggressively fight the fire. Fire Trucks are like the firefighter's tool box -- carrying ladders, rescue equipment and other tools to enable personnel to support firefighting activities.

From here, this traveler can see the northeastern edge of the 29,000 acres which burned in April of this year, nearly totally gutting Point Mugu State Park, and much other open space, but not a single home, in large part due to strict brush-clearance requirements in the Dos Vientos area 😁

This was certainly a trip for firefighting travelers! We brought two with us, managing to drop off both of them, and picked up this one, which is now home with us in Ventura County, west of L.A, which means that it isn't much more than 100 miles from where it started 😮 Fortunately, it's never visited this area, so we can leave it somewhere around here without any guilty feelings. The day after we picked this up, we stopped at the smaller of the two volunteer fire stations in Carlotta, which is a small community east of Fortuna, and took its picture there with the one firefighting TB we still had at that point. That one got dropped off about ten minutes later. I'll post the photo as soon as I have the time to go through them all.
