Hiding in burrows, i am shy but please keep me on the move
Information about the kiwi: The kiwi is a nocturnal flightless bird found only in New Zealand’s forests and on offshore islands. It belongs to a group of birds called Ratites, which means it has a flat breastbone and no keel on the sternum with which to attach flight muscles. The kiwi has a highly developed sense of smell and it uses its long beak to search for worms, grubs and beetles. The female lays an egg which can be up to 20% of her body weight however due to introduced predators less than 5% of chicks survive their first year.
