Current Goal

This TB is a challenge to the Edmonton area caching community - move this TB only if you are man enough! Not for wimps or "girlie boys", as Arnold would say. You probably won't find this guy in a cache - it's too big for most of them so it will be somewhere nearby, maybe under or above the actual cache. Please do not take this TB overseas. April 28, 2010 updated Mission: to return to the Edmonton area by the fall so I can get new batteries installed. March 20, 12 updated mission: go whereever it will!

About This Item

Inukshuk Geocoin Prize

We got a little tired of all those cute little TBs, also got tired of "forgotten" and "lost" TBs so decided to kill 2 birds with one stone and created Alberta's heaviest, truly trackable TB. This thing started out as a chunk of lead that's been sitting in my garage for years; it was used to encase a GPS tracking device (for protection and heft) which was then covered with FRM (Fake Rock Material) for camo. If I must say so myself it's not a bad imitation of a rock but I'm a bit disappointed in that it turned out more fragile than i had hoped. So treat it gently. The internal GPS can be remotely activated to give me a fix on the cache but that actually uses up a lot of battery power to extend the antenna so it would be appreciated if when you move this guy you extend the antenna for about 30 seconds, this will activate the internal GPS and send me the TBs location. CAUTION:When the antenna is deployed remotely it comes out quickly and with a lot of force so don't ever aim it towards your eyes or other soft body parts, (or sit on it) as it can do you some serious hurt. (March 20, 12 Update: the fake rock broke in half but I managed to fix it with Gorilla Glue. At the same time Installed a new flexible antenna to replace the telescopic one. The telescopic antenna was just too fragile and giving too many problems. The new one isn't camoed as well but doesn't use any battery power to deploy so batteries should last a lot longer.)(August 4, 2013 update: the new antenna broke off but we are still getting a signal, but not as accurate as it use to be) Obviously the TB should be hidden with the antenna facing up or the mechanism could become jammed. The first challenge is to find it- shouldn't be too hard as it's a bit different than most Alberta rocks. The 2nd challenge is to not get hurt by it - watch out for that antenna! and be carefull, it's heavy. Logging requirements are straightforward.... You must actually move this TB to another cache to be eligible to log it. No "discover" or "grab" logs permitted unless you've physically helped to move the TB from cache to cache. We have made available 4 Inukshuk geocoins as prizes for moving this TB. They are pretty neat 2 part coins. One coin will go the first cacher to actually physically place the TB in a cache (photo required); one to the first to actually move the TB to a new cache; and 2 coins for the first cachers to place it at a cache with a terrain rating of 3 or more (photos appreciated). Sorry, only one coin per cacher. Let me know when you have achieved one of these goals and somehow i'll get the coin to you. A lot of the ideas for this TB were stolen from a TB owned by Fish Eagle in S Africa - thanks Fish Eagle. BTW - the TB is named in honour of my greatest granddaughter, "T". Untill recently she wasn't too fond of caching and sometimes would insist upon being carried. At that time she weighed about the same as this TB, after moving it you'll appreciate what the rest of the team went through- surprising she wasn't abandoned in the bush. All the Inukshuk prize coins have now been claimed. To RADDAD for being the first to move; to BHT cache finders for being the first to place it by a cache with a terrain rating of 3 or more; to GOTTA GO PLAY OUTSIDE for being the first to place it actually into a cache and last, but definitly not least, to DINKBOY for placing it in a cache with a terrain rating of 5 (and at night time to boot) . Thanks all for moving this monstrosity along!
