This coin celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America and showcases a few of Scouting’s Treasures: Cub Scouting, Boy Scouts and Venturing. Pass our coins on so others can enjoy logging them and learn about our program.
Treasures of Scouting 100th Anniversary Geocoin Geocaching and Scouting is a natural partnership. We hope our 100th Anniversary coins inspire you – Scout and non-Scout geocachers alike - to share the message of our quality youth program and join in our adventure. Go to Scouting.org for more information on our programs and how you can be involved. Visit our Scout caches: The Treasures of Scouting and the Cache to Eagle Series. This Coin sent out in to the World by YUCCA COUNCIL BSA. Every good traveler has a good story and good story has a great beginning. I just wish I knew the beginning of this Geocoin’s story. I can only tell you how it and 24 of its brothers (or sisters?) came to be with me and that is not all that interesting of a story. But it is the only one I have to tell. One day in early August 2011 I was riding with a fellow Scouter from our homes in East El Paso up to our Council summer camp for a luncheon. I noticed a flat rate US Mail box on the floor of the van and picking up noticed it was heavy. Before I could say or ask anything my complain informed me “Oh, that’s for you.” Well, I took a look inside and saw that it contained 25 Geocoins and 10 Cache to Eagle Boy Scout Patches. I was then informed that they had been found during a recent cleaning of the local Yucca Council Boy Scout office and that I was the “logical choice” to set them out for their intended purpose. That purpose to go out into the Geocaching World and inform the world of how much fun Scouting can be. So I am setting them off to see what becomes of them. Please pass this on to others and if you enjoy outdoor adventures such as Geocaching consider joining up with your local Boy Scouts either as a member or a volunteer. We even have a Geocaching Merit Badge for you to earn. May you find many caches in your travels.
