To "socialize" Rosie to as many places as possible by placing her in a new cache within 48 hours of finding her, and returning her back to the San Rafael Hill cache in CA around March 28, 2004, so she can begin her formal Guide Dog training. If you have a digital camera, photos of her adventures would be very much appreciated!
*UPDATE* Since part of Rosie's goal is to return to San Rafael Hill Cache in March of 2004, please keep her socialization within the State of California, so she can return back to San Rafael, CA for her guide dog training.
Rosie is a very special puppy! She is training to be a Guide Dog for the Blind. When she gets older, she hopes to be someones partner and friend by helping them gain better independence and mobility. Rosie's heros are Michael Hingson and his Guide Dog, Roselle. Roselle helped Michael escape from his office on the 78th floor in the World Trade Center on 9/11, and Rosie hopes to grow up to be just like Roselle. To read more about this amazing story of partnership and bravery, check out the web site at (visit link)
As a Guide Dog puppy, Rosie has to be exposed to and socialized to as many different places and environments during her first year of training, so she will be comfortable and confident in any setting while she is working as a Guide Dog. The green jacket that she wears allows her to gain access to almost all public areas that dogs normally can't go. She can go into restaurants, theaters, stores, buses, planes, and trains, to name a few. This allows her to get all the socialization she needs to be confident out in public before she returns to Guide Dogs for the Blind for her formal guide work training.
Please help Rosie attain her goal by "socializing" her to as many places as possible. If you have access to a digital camera, please take pictures of her on her travels for her scrapbook. After going through puppy raising for a year, she will then return back to her original starting place at San Rafael Hill Cache, CA as close to March 28, 2004 as possible, so she can start her formal training as a Guide Dog at Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael, CA.
Because it is so important for her to gain as much experience being in as many different places as possible, if you decide to help her on her way, she must be placed in another cache within 48 hours of finding her. If this is not possible, please do not take her.
Thank you for puppy raising Rosie!
