Current Goal

Lincoln de Chaine was released in Golden, Colorado in July of 2003 by MT Barnes, one of the notorious Barnes Brothers of Kansas City. Initially, this travel bug consisted of a single link from a bicycle chain. Lincoln’s ultimate goal is to journey from Colorado to the homes of the two other Barnes Brothers – Red Barnes in Charles Town, West Virginia and Cory (Gated) Barnes in Austin, Texas – and then back to MT in Colorado. Along the way, Lincoln hopes to gather additional links from some of the folks who help to move him along his way. However, his journey will not be complete until each of the three Barnes Brothers has added another link to the chain.

About This Item

If you would like to add a link to the chain (preferably a clean one) you will need a bicycle chain tool and a link from a standard bicycle chain. Or you could get somebody at your friendly neighborhood bike shop to do it (probably for free if you tell them what you’re up to). It only takes a second with the right tool.

Or you can just help Lincoln along by moving him closer to his various destinations. The Barnes Brothers will be monitoring Link’s progress and when he gets within range they’re prepared to go out and pick him up from whatever cache he’s in. Thanks!
