What an interesting history of this little beach! First when you arrive here from the top of the hill, you think, what's that: all beaches spoiled by breakwaters. Fair enough, Japan has problems with tsunamis, but is it really necessary to built into the inundation area and scarify the nice, natural beaches and headlands? It's not the same thing.... For us Australians, beaches are our culture, which would never be spoiled by such artificial constructions. At the bottom, however, there IS a little beach, Mizuki Beach, which so-to-say, opposed the urbanization and the pure land protection. A natural beach IS indeed a protection, but it needs to breath. There are times, when sand deposits, and others where it is eroded. Protection from Beach Erosion can also occur in different ways, by plants, sands and retracted construction.

Indeed, I can imagine to come back here, one summer day, and catch a wave. The surf s beautiful, the water still warm! I even have my swimmers on, but with all the rain today, I've got enough water. Thanks, yattunn, for pointing out this fascinating history!

Pretty enchanted to see the good surf out there! I've my swimmers on, however, I've got wet already by heaven's. Found the cache in the only dry place around here, as if the elements were pointing towards it. Yesss, the ocean break on the bomboras off the headlands are inviting, surf breaking laterally on both ends. Man, I can imagine, at times there is big swell! Only hoping, there are no sharks, but I doubt, as if one was there, it would quickly end on a sushi plate 😈. A few surfers were out there and it was nice watching. In Tokai, I've found even a surf shop, which may see me again once I come out here for longer, together with suparki12.

Another macpon cache, full of these macpon pins of which I took one, although there was no space to leave anything else - not even one of the two geocoins 😟 TFTCM!

I like the camo! The cache was dry, but the logbook soaked. Very strange: the inside of the cache container was totally dry, however, the loogsheet, contained in a little plastic back was soaked - as if someone filed the plastic with water on purpose. I am particularly astonished, since this is the second of such configuration in the vicinity, after Kuji River.

This wonderful morning, I spent at J-PARC for reducing and storing some of our experimental data. As I got back to the dorm, packed up for geocaching and swimming, it started to rain! Bummer... well, the only day I have, so let's bike north a few k's anyway. Tomorrow back to Australia.

Did not drop a geocoin because of the wet log.

What a nice location for a DNF! I was all by myself that rainy day, at the shrine. What, a regular size cache here? I found two holes on each sied, under the stairs. First I wen to the western, put my arms inside - nothing. At east, there were traces in the sand, as if someone already tried his luck. Brrr. not so comfortable inside there, particularly with that big insect lying outside.

I also was looking for the beach access across the J-PARC side, which I did not find either. To compensate, I've giot the southern drive through the forest the access the pacific ocean. Well, not the same beaches as in Australia, but probably good to catch a wave or two.

Pretty impressed again about this little secret in Tokai, the shrine on the hill. That's making the difference, you find a lot of most modern technology and world leading research along with ancient culture! TFTC, Susudo, will keep watching and be back one day!

Passing to find a beach access! And of course, to hit some beautiful caches, such as the present. Coords were a bit off, but the hint helped a lot. A gray and almost rainy day. Nice views over the rice fields. The Japanese put a lot of effort into the gardens and plantations, making them look very well and cute. They must have thousands of years of experience how to cultivate diverse plants and grow veggies most efficiently.

Yes, it's hidden too well! After a great day of first geocaching in Japan with no DNF, yesterday, this day starts is my first Japanese DNF. It looks the cache is well hidden inside a fragile statue. Although I grabbed my torch for close looks, I didn't want to push my arms too deep into the hollow.
The trees already lost their autumn leaves, and I imagine spring time. Definitely will be back in April to have a look of this famous blossom. Thakns, Suzudo, for bringing me out here and showing me around.

Totally unexpected - a nice parc! This is Japan, a land with many hidden treasures. Industry, nuclear research, but also shrines and parcs. All is in the reach of a short bike tour in Tokai and enjoys my very first discovery of the area. I approached GZ from te bottom, riding along a path which was more and more mystic overgrown by moose - and not often used, it seems. Then it ended just 30m from GZ, and I had to make my way 'round the upper billabong, to arrive at the present place with views over the undulated landscape. It's getting dark already, time to get back to the dorm. TFTCM, Suzudo!

Cycling over the bridge and dropping a GeoCoin! This coin, I found early this year in the USA, brought it then to Australia, dropped in a cache and retrieved it months later in the same. So I place it here in this nice country of high technology!

Logbook soaked. Removed plastic! My second find in Japan! I arrived this morning from Sydney, Australa. Checked into business and had a free afternoon - and a bike! This one represents well the theme, although I might not do the whole series right now. A nice land... I started near the J-Parc side, then to the beach, out here... a few picts of the river ... my first impressions of the area. The cache location was quiet. First I searched without looking up the hint... and I almost found it - saw the camouflage, but then I somehow decided to look somewhere else and sought the hint. The box inside was pretty dry, apart from the water inside the plastic bag holding the log book. The latter was soaked and wet. I posed it onto the dry wood, and soaked the water off with a handkerchief.

Thanks, macpon, for bringing me out here... a nice introduction to your country side. TFTCM!
