This Geocoin will remain in the hands of The Lympstone Bogtrotters but will be available to be 'discovered' at caching Events and while out 'n' about caching. A celebration of the completion of my 'A Cache A Day In May' challenge which didn't actually finish until 2nd of June resulting in a very respectable consecutive days caching record of 33.
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2011
Have recently completed ACADIJul AND ACADIA and am currently on day 20/30 of ACADIS. This ACAD Geocoin has been travelling with me on this amazing challenge to see if it's possible to find a cache a day for a quarter of a year! I have been dipping it in the FIRST CACHE of the day only so I will have an accurate 'diary' of my qualifying caches. Have also met up with quite a few cachers on route and at events who have discovered this coin. I hope to post a load of photos of the ACAD coin on its ACAD adventures - but only when the string is broken! Cache On! Phil
UPDATE DECEMBER 2011
My consecutive days (ACAD) streak came to an end on 30-11-2011 on 153 days. This A Cache A Day coin visited every (first of the day) cache with me on this mamouth streak. As this is one of my oldest, and most cherished, coins I have decided to give it a new tempory mission. Until the arrival of the shiney new 366 coins (sometime in February 2012) this ACAD coin will visit any caches which count towards my new challenge of Finds On Each Day Of The Year (or FOEDOTY). On 01-01-2012 I had coloured in 242 / 366 days, and with 23 blank squares in January there is plenty of scope for the ACAD coin to travel some distance before it has a well earned rest!!
UPDATE AUGUST 2013
After it's well earned rest my ACAD Geocoin acted as dipping bookmarker for a jolly little A Cache A Day In June (2012) which was undertaken purely as an accompaniment to my FEDOTY Grid challenge ie I had a lot of white squares that needed turning green in June...................................
and now Groundspeak have offered us ACAD experts 31 ''FREE'' souvenirs. All we have to do is complete ACADIA2013.
Already did that in 2011 - so shouldn't really cause too much trouble! Day eight already, and I haven't even broken into a sweat yet! Cache On!
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2014
My ACAD Geocoin has been accompanying me on ACADIJune and ACADIJuly. And all because I really fancied one of the new ''Geo-Achievement: 31 Days of Caching'' geocoins, so felt obliged to at least do a months worth to show willing
Ended up with a streak of 65 eventually snapping the string on 5th August 2014. Cache On! Phil
UPDATE APRIL 2015
My [possibly!] unique claim to fame of completing ACAD for a Calendar Month every year since I started caching remains intact
ACADIMarch (2015) now completed. The 32 Day Streak started on 01-03-2015 with 'The River Morton' and finished on 01-04-2015 with 'A Short Village Stroll 1'. I found a total of 58 caches, 54 of which were trads, 2 puzzles, 1 multi and an Event.
A fun Geocoin with an apple on the front, and on the reverse a cacher throwing an apple over his shoulder hitting a doctor with the inscription: 'A cache a day keeps the doctor away!'
Purchased early August 2010 from the very nice people at geocoinshop.de in Germany, this was, along with The Big Blue Switch & the Geocaching 10 Years! (spinner) an excellent 42nd Birthday present from my much loved mother-in-law, Anne.
The coin itself is approx 1.58 inches across and 3mm deep. Both sides have soft enamel inking on a nickel base, and it is still (Aug 2014) available to purchase at the above mentioned geocoin distributors.
