Coming from Guam where there are no railroads, this little spike would like to visit railroads throughout the world and meet with friends who help bring the joy of geocaching to others. Pictures would be greatly appreciated.
During Geocoin Fest the Golden Spike Geocoin was introduced. This Geocoin looks like the real Golden Spike that was used in the Coming Together of the Railroads.
On May 10, 1869 the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads were connected at Promontory Summit, Utah. In order to mark the occasion, a golden spike was used to join the two lines, effectively uniting a nation and opening up the West for commerce and travel. This trackable Golden Spike Geocoin commemorates the joining of the lines.
Size: 1.75" x 5mm
Description: There is lettering on all four (4) sides of the spike, indicating the following:
A. Golden Spike
B. The meeting of the lines
C. May 10, 1869
D. Tracking Number and "Track at geocaching.com"
