Excellent coin.

Info on the coin:  In January 2002, the Wisconsin Geocaching Association was founded to better represent geocachers across the state.  In the same year, a weekend geo-campout was organized, which developed into a traditional event in the following years.

The first information about the first trackable geocoin representing the state of Wisconsin appeared in the geocaching forum at the end of July 2005. The geocoin was designed by Paul Thomas aka pcfrog. Mainly due to the commitment of board member Team LightningBugs from the "Wisconsin Geocaching Association", the ordering phase started on October 11, 2005 via the WGA Store. The geocoin was issued in a shiny gold edition of 1450 pieces and was released after being minted by the Geocoinshop at the end of November 2005.

The obverse of the 38 x 4.5 mm coin shows the outline of the state and a wind rose. The name of the organization and the nickname of the state "The Badger State" can be read. On the back is a 3D nature scene with a white-tailed deer, one of the most common animals you can see in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Geocaching Association Exceptionally Limited Edition 2005: This special two-tone coin recognizes exceptional service to the Wisconsin Geocaching Association. It is awarded by majority vote of the nine-member board of directors and is typically given no more than once per year. It cannot be purchased or given to past board members solely for serving as a member or officer. The front of the coin features a nickel finish with gold lettering and an image of the state, while the back has a nickel finish with gold accents and a depiction of a whitetail deer.

So many of my trackable have been muggled that I only release new GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks.  KL

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually. After looking at the TB page for each TB that she discovered that I didn't, I found that a number of TB Codes necessary to discover the trackable were included on the TB Page itself or intentionally or as a spoiler in the photo gallery. Sometimes there was an attempt to obsure or hide the TB Code that was not entirely successful making it fairly easy to determine the TB Code needed to discover the travel bug.
