Current Goal

This very special Geocoin will be travelling in loving memory of my Dad, James “Rick” Braden, who passed away on January 12, 2003 from cancer.  He worked for CalFire (formerly CDF) for 28 years.  Many of those years were spent as a Heavy Fire Equipment Operator, running the dozer in Unit #2542.  The last few years he spent as a Captain working in the command center. 

My Dad loved the outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing and being out in nature.  If he were still here today, there is no doubt in my mind that he would be out here right along with me, hunting for caches and loving every minute of it. 

While the ultimate goal is a beach in Maui, HI, if you are nearby Colorado Springs, CO, please take it to the Fallen Firefighter Memorial (N 38.832807, W -104.803221) and take a picture of the coin next to his name.

He was the bravest man I’ve ever known and we all love and miss him very much.
