The photo in the TB was taken on a rebellious christmas camping trip to Ocean Shores, WA. and by the next night I had come down with the flu and a fever of 103. It was a fine illness and I ended up in the ER fearing I had chollera. While there, I had a lovely conversation with a sphygmomanometer. It told me it was from Wisconsin. The doc gave me some tylenol with codiene for my killer headache and it was off to fever dream land.
As for the photo itself, we had pulled off the main road and were attempting to cross the olympic mountains via forest roads and came across a wonderful vista that had a breathtaking panoramic view of stumps and logs and brush. Alas, the road was washed out at Spider Lake and we backtracked to Satsop and the now defunct, never started Nuclear Power Plant that was built there in the 70s. It's still there and is now a business park.
The patch in the photo of the bug is a from a Delta II rocket launch that carried one of the IIR-II GPS birds into orbit. It has nothing to do with the travel bug and was only included here on the travel bug page to up the cheese factor.
