Vincent Willem van Gogh lived from 30 March 1853 till 29 July 1890. He was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter whose work had a far-reaching influence on 20th century art for its vivid colors and emotional impact. He suffered from anxiety and increasingly frequent bouts of mental illness throughout his life, and died largely unknown, at the age of 37, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Design

The Vincent van Gogh Geocoin is round shaped, has a size of 1.75″ (approx. 44 mm) and was a co-design by geocachingshop.nl and Van Stoffelen Sr. This is the first geocoin designed together with the geocachingshop.nl which is located in Nuenen in the province of Noord-Brabant in The Netherlands. Vincent made several paintings in Nuenen which led to the idea of this geocoin.

The front of this geocoin is designed after Vincent’s 1885 painting ‘Wheatfields with stokes and a Mill’. This mill is in fact the Roosdonck mill, which is still in use. Nearby this mill a geocache can be found. The other side of the geocoin is designed after a self-portrait of Vincent.

Tijdens mijn bezoek aan geocoinfest Europe 2015 Netherlands heb ik deze mooie coin kunnen aanschouwen,waar voor mijn dank.

Tijdens het GeoCoinFest weekend heb ik een hele hoop gedaan, waardoor ik niet altijd voldoende tijd had om uitgebreid alles te bekijken. Ik heb echter wel van het gehele weekend erg genoten en tussen de bedrijven door met een aantal mensen gezellig kunnen kletsen 😎

En ik heb ook nog heel even de tijd gehad om de fraaie collecties die boven opgesteld lagen te bewonderen. Daar zat ook de verzameling van Geo-Dragonchild bij.
Ik ben blij dat hier toch nog even de tijd voor heb kunnen vinden. Het is namelijk toch wel bijzonder om zo veel fraaie coins bij elkaar te zien.

Gelukkig heb ik niet alle codes zelf op hoeven te schrijven, maar kon ik wat hulp krijgen 😉

Geo-Dragonchild, bedankt voor het tonen van deze fraaie verzameling en de hulp bij het discoveren.

Dieses wunderschöne Exemplar durften wir am Rande des MEGA-Event "Geocoinfest Europe 2015 Netherlands" discovern. Naja, eigentlich ist dieser Standardtext ja hier nicht so ganz richtig. Wir haben erst einmal in allen Vitrinen bewundert, wie umfangreich und vielfältig die einzelnen Sammlungen sein können und uns ein paar Kontaktdaten notiert. Wir waren zwar vor zwei Jahren in Prag schon mit dabei, hatten uns dort aber ein anderes Ziel gesetzt, nämlich 12 verschiedene Cachetypen an einem Tag zu schaffen. Daher waren wir dieses Mal umso glücklicher, dass wir uns ausgiebig den Schönheiten des heutigen Tages hingeben und nach Herzenslust discovern durften. Danke dafür und viel Erfolg auf Deiner weiteren Mission.
