IMPORTANT:
This geocoin is currently being circulated as a proxy/copy. That is, it is not the actual, original coin. The original coin is in my possession. Why would anyone send out a proxy/copy instead of the original? Because I had earned it, I don’t want to take the risk that the actual coin is stolen or goes missing (as is so often the case with geocoins). The original geocoin is part of the Allegheny Geotrail. The Allegheny Geotrail is/was a series of ten counties in northwestern Pennsylvania that designated several geocaches in their individual counties. Geocachers could visit any of the ten counties. If they found at least six of those designated geocaches in a given county, they received that county’s geocoin for free. In other words, what makes this geocoin so special is that it was earned instead of bought or won.
This geocoin features the Clarion County logo, as well as a kayak and eagle in front of the keystone symbol. On the back of the geocoin is the Allegheny Geotrail logo and list of participating Pennsylvania counties. To earn this geocoin, on 03/17/2011 (St. Patrick's Day), I found the following seven geocaches in Clarion County, Pennsylvania (though I only needed six):
