První mince z připravované série věnované hvězdám a souhvězdím severní části oblohy. Na minci je vyobrazena nejznámější hvězda ze souhvězdí Perseus – Algol. Motiv na minci pochází z historického atlasu map hvězdné oblohy (1822).
Algol (β Per / Beta Persei) - název pochází z arabského Rás al Ghúl, „hlava démona“. Další názvy jsou El Ghoul, Gorgona, Gorgonea Prima nebo Ďábelská hvězda. V starých hvězdných mapách bývá zobrazená jako hlava Medúzy v Perseově ruce. Je možná nejznámější zákrytová proměnná hvězda vůbec.
