About This Item

Boomerang Bug2: Going the Distance

In the sport of boomerangs, one event not often contested is distance throwing. One reason why it is not often seen is the lack of adequately sized fields. Consider that a winning throw is typically over 100 meters from throwing line to the flight’s furthest point and returns within 10 meters of the thrower. And you would want to allow for flights further than that – 120 meters is in the winning range – without interference from changes to the wind caused by trees, hills, or buildings. Even unsuccessful ones – 100 meters to the left or right. A serious field has room for a world record – 238 meters. (a hand throw object traveling nearly 800 feet!) Each year the Seattle area hosts a couple tournaments that include distance throwing. Teamgel, a fellow geocacher, is one of the throwers. He has thrown his way into the 100 meter club. His wife did it in her first competition. Not as easy as it seems. So I am tossing this distance boomerang geocaching style. It has reached Teamgel, It now needs to return (as all proper boomerangs do) to Peoria, IL. It would be really neat to get a picture of it. I haven't seen this bug for over 4 years.

"Just grabbing this travelbug and then putting it back... to replace the Note I had made on it before when I had it.

I'm doing this because of the retroactive rule change for recognizing notes as finds for travel bugs."

Just noting this bug out and back into a cache to meet updated logging requirements for credit from GC.com. I have seen and held the bug some time ago...sorry if there is confusion as the result of this action...

I originally had this TB back in Aug 03, but gave it to another cacher instead of placing it in a cache. I wrote a note instead of logging it in it to save time. Now I am logging it to get credit for it again.
