Ptolemy wants to fly around and visit as many caches as possible before he becomes extinct. If flying isn't an option he will be happy riding in a car or someone's backpack until he can be deposited in a cache.

Ptolemy the Pterodactyl

We think we have discovered the real reason that pterodactyls disappeared from the earth. We have photographic proof that most were eradicated by roaming herds of Maine Coon cats (see photo). Ptolemy has an acute case of ailurophobia. After this encounter he was saved and sent on his way.
