Current Goal

To visit as many caches in the mountains, hills, fells, moors or indeed any area inhabited by my ovine relatives. Additionally, in view of how I was named, it would be fitting if I can visit the Innominate Tarn cache on or befote 17.1.07 to pay my own respects to the great man.

About This Item

We're ready for the off

The legendary Alfred Wainwright, known best simply as AW, produced many 'mountain guide' books including a series of Pictorial Guides to the Lake District and of course the classic Coast to Coast Walk. These books have inspired thousands of people from across the world to take to the hills with their own objectives and ambitions.
AW dedicated Book 4 of his Pictorial Guides to the lake District, The Southern Fells, to:
'The hardiest of all fellwalkers - the sheep of Lakeland, the truest lovers of the mountains'.
I was named A Double Ewe in memory of the great man who would have celebrated his 100 birthday on 17.1.07. Following his death AW's ashes were placed at Innominate Tarn on his favourite mountain 'Haystacks'.
