About This Item

GeoCoin Club February (Pythagoras) 2010 Geocoin

Large coin with heft.  2 inches 3.5 mm thick satin gold.  Available in other metal colors. Unusual shape of three squares slightly touching each other.  The front of the coin has translucent red (large square), light green (small square) and blue enamel (medium square). There is 3-D metal work under.  It is of the Pothagoras studies.  The reverse has excellent 3-D work and shows various designs.  This must be seen to be appreciated.   Excellent coin.

Info on the coin:  This is the regular edition coin of the February 2010 Geocoin Club Coin.

This month is a tribute to another one of our classics, Pythagoras.  The overall shape is a proof for the pythagoran theorem - a2+b2=C2.  Then we have the tetracytys, a 10 dot arrangement mystic symbol important to the worship of Pythagorism and symbolizes earth, air, water, fire at the points.  The monad, a circle with dot symbolizes the "one source" or God to the Pythagorists.  The stars are a Pythagoran Lute based on phi and pi the golden ratio.  The background symbol is a Pythagoran Tree.  The rotated squares are another proof for the pythagoran theorem.  The quote on the red square is attributed to Pythagoras to describe the relationship between music and mathmatics and it is also in a golden spiral. All that packed into ONE COIN.

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
