When I received the request to retrieve Snowy from my Daffy1 geocache I thought I would get it done. I had some time the second week of June but the snow was still deep. About July 8 some friends were going up that way and I asked them to make the retrieve. They were able to get to 11,000 feet but could not continue even to the top of the pass due to the snow. Yesterday I tried again. We drove to the top of the pass and 3 of us started to make the hike to Daffy1. It was a day of misting and scattered light rain showers. But at the top of the pass it was a steady rain. After a few minutes we realized that even though we had rain jackets on, we were not prepared to spend an hour in steady rain at 40 degrees.
I am writing this note because Snowy is probably going to stay there another winter. I don't think I will have time to try again in the next few days but if something changes I may try. Otherwise Daffy1 will be snowed in before the end of September.
