A combination lock that the owner has aquired, without a combination. Thus it is the hope that a clever cacher will be able to crack the combination and tell the owner what it is.

Lifechooser clearly worked hard to try and crack the combo, so I feel duty bound to attempt this as well. I have passed the lock onto my chief Head of Research, Headboy_Roy, and challenged him to crack it! We shall see if he succeeds..

I spent a couple of days working on this.<br />
<br />
Some research on the net showed me the best way to crack it. You start with the third digit, which according to the instructions I followed, was 8. Then the second and first digits rely on the remainders of 8r4 and (8r4)+2.<br />
<br />
From there two second digits can be removed, if they are within 2 of the third digit.<br />
<br />
Then there are 80 combinations to work though, which resulted in.... nothing. In case I did one wrong, I left it in the coffee area with a note - and still it was locked.<br />
<br />
Finally, I tried again, using 38 as the last number, as a friend at work seemed to think that it might be. Still failed.<br />
<br />
I give up. Someone else can try.<br />
