About This Item

Smoochy at the start of his adventure

Smoochy was born in a pond in Dorset. He was a happy tadpole and grew up with his brothers and sisters. He coped well when his legs grew and his tail vanished and was raised to be a proud and adventurous frog. Now one day there were so many frogs in the pond his parents advised him to go seek his fortune and travel as much as he could. So he packed his bag and left the pond saying goodbye to all his bothers, sisters and friends and went on his way. To Be Continued

Smoochy had decided to travel from the blustery seashore to the quiet countryside - but he didn't expect it to be so muddy! After hopping along bridlepaths and treacherously swamped woodlands, he found a nice little hidey-hole in the base of an old tree. He crept in and snuggled up to have a rest under some fallen leaves. The following day, Smoochy awoke to the sound of someone slipping down the muddy river banks very close to his hiding place. Curious, the little frog decided to sneak out and have a look at who had disturbed his rest. He quickly saw that the group of people standing close to his sleeping-spot had with them a ferocious looking beast with big teeth and four legs! He quickly jumped aboard the group's rucksack to escape. (It seems that Smoochy didn't quite understand that the little Jack Russel posed no real threat!) Happy at his quick-thinking, he rested for a while in the backpack, unaware of where he was now heading...

As Smoochy sheltered from the harsh wind blowing of the Bournemouth shore line he spotted a group of curious people in neckerchiefs and went to investigate. He heard them talk about fascinating things like camping and wanted to have a go for himself!

He jumped into one of the groups bag and waited to see where they where going, unfortunately the bag Smoochy chose was one of a weekend visitor and the next thing he new he was in a car! He hoped out the bag and under a chair to avoid the people inside waiting for his chance to hop it!

As he left his home, he hopped along the path towards the horizon, hoping to make his fortune. The sun started to sink and it grew dark. He could hear muggle owls hooting and flapping of large wings as he hopped into a bush for cover. He decided to lay low until morning. Luckily there was a damp container in the bush which was just big enough for him to wet his now almost dry skin. He was so tired that he fell fast asleep almost straight away. As he awoke the next morning, he could hear voices nearby. "It's here somewhere. I'm not leaving with a Did Not Find again!" a man said. He jumped up out of the box just in time, as a large hand came down into the bush grabbing the box. He hopped off away from the bush back down the path. As continued his travels, he noticed a sign for the seaside. He turned off along the lane and came to the cliff tops. He had never been to the beach before so wandered along the cliffs to find a way down to the sea. To be continued...
