I used to come here as a child with my family with a picnic and spend the day watching hovercraft, playing in the park ( no longer here) and our special treat was having an icecream in the afternoon. brought back great memories , I'm not sure the Viking ship was fenced in then either. We enjoyed the walk along the cliff top ( which I don't think I ever did) especially as the approach road to the Hoverport would have been in the way and unsafe for children in the 70's, Thank you for bringing me back here.

  • Viking Ship - Cliffsend KENT In 1949 an adventurous voyage of 1500km was embarked by 53 Danish gents to mark the 1500th anniversary of the 449AD sailings of the Vikings to England. In 449AD the Vikings landed at Pegwell Bay and other locations along the east coast of the country. For this Virtual you will be visiting an amazing vessel who made this 1500km journey, which is permanently on display here for free...!
