Football - Goodison Park

The world is united by many things, but these days the one thing most of the world has in common is the love for football (soccer for us Americans).  If Football was a religion, some of the great Cathedrals of the sport are spread around the world. This bug is in a series of five travel bugs that head to some of the most famous football stadiums in the world (at least the ones I would like to watch a match in someday).  While you may not be able to cache at the stadium, please make the attempt to take a picture of the bug next to it.  And along the way, feel free to take it to you other stadiums and kick the ball around.

Goodison Park is a football stadium located in Walton, Liverpool, England. The stadium has been home to Everton F.C. since its completion in 1892 and is one of the world's first purpose-built football grounds.  For that long history, Goodison has seen many major matches including an FA Cup final, multiple UEFA matches, friendlies for both England & Northern Ireland, and five matches as part of the 1966 World Cup, including the semi-final won by West Germany over the Soviet Union.
 
But the real reason this venue was selected for this trackable was just another match.  You see, good old abesimpson (this trackable’s owner) was there on August 21, 2010 for the season home opener against Wolverhampton.  Buried back in the faithful on the Gwladys Street Stand (if you know Everton, you know how die hard the folks were there) I watched the Toffees hold the Wolves to a 1-1 draw (Steak Pie in Hand). 
There is a cache in the park across the street from the stadium but this bugger won’t fit in it – but feel free to clock it through if you get there; and if you can’t get to Merseyside, you’re more than welcome to help it along any way you can.
