"Hippocampus" comes from the Ancient Greek hippos meaning “horse” and kampos meaning “sea monster”.
There are about 40 species of seahorse. These fish form territories, with males staying in about 1 square metre (11 sq ft) of their habitat while females range about one hundred times that area.
So I guess our travelling sea horse is a girl ...;)
During social moments or in unusual surroundings, seahorses turn bright colors. Since caching usually involves unusual surroundings and is most of the time a social happening, I'd love to see some pictures of my bright sea horse or maybe cachers in bright colors... Since caching S
Our little sea horse (or should I say she horse) is a souvenir from Lübeck, Germany, a reminder of a wonderful holiday. It started its travels on the german island Rügen, in a 'Trabbi'.
Please let her travel from cache to cache and, if possible, upload pictures so we can see she is doing all right!
