The mission for this travel bug is to see other mining towns as well as historical sites throughout the country. i would also like to see pictures of this tb taken at some of these locations.
The Belmont mine is about 3700 feet in depth and operated from 1900 to 1956. the headframes or gallows frames were used to lower the miners and some of their equipment to lower mine tunnels.
they were also used to bring up the copper and ore from the tunnels to ground level.
the city of butte had over 80 of these in working order for over 100 years. and now only about 10 to 12 stand today.
