Found this travel bug on the way out of the Grand Canyon! Looks like this guy has been out of circulation for a while! Taking it back to california with us to see if we can get a signal there.

I had one of these, once. It was an upgrade from a prior model. I'm not sure I can get it to a higher elevation to find its signal anytime soon, but figured I'd rescue it from this cache--having been there for awhile.

I was really delighted to accompany EagleTrax, Moya Crew and Greg2dot0 to this cache - seems like the only was I can get my friends to visit my caches is to drive them there It was my 4th visit to GZ, but my first in 2 years, and I can reaffirm that the last 150ft are very tough and justify the terrain rating. The actual cache is in great shape. Strangely enough, my GPSr was indicating 30+ft at GZ, which in this environment is a big deal, but everybody else was showing 8ft to 16ft.

I dropped off a very cool Motorola StarTAK cell phone (analog, I'm sure), My boss had one of them This TB's goal is to reach high elevations to improve cell reception, and I think we complied. The TB has a clear shot view of the Empire State Building, which is a about 35 miles away!

All in all, a very enjoyable day of hiking (about 15 miles, driving (220 miles) and caching) with some great caching buddies.

  • TB going into it's new home
  • clear shot view all the way to NYC

Really cool TB. Dropped off later at a "high elevation".
