To be photgraphed with dangerous animals around the world.
Australia is known for its sun, sand, and dangerous animals: Snakes, spiders, crocodiles, drop bears and sharks. (Though the most dangerous animal in Australia, apart from homo sapiens, is actually the horse.) This ring is part of the old shark net from Balmoral Beach in Sydney Harbour. Many of the harbour beaches have small enclosed swimming areas, though the nets probably keep small children in, rather than huge sharks out. The tattered remains of the Balmoral Beach net were removed some years ago, but rings like this can be found by snorkelling in the shallows where the net used to be suspended.
So take this ring to visit dangerous animals; tigers, polar bears, your pet cat or little sister. If it scares you, take a picture of it. If you decide to keep the ring as a souvenir, that's OK too, but please put the TB back in circulation, and let me know.

I was just looking through the logs for the trackable again. In 2019 I said it was pretty cool that the shark ring made it to Geocaching HQ. I completely forgot that I took it to HQ myself in 2014.

Obrigada por compartilhar e desculpe o atraso no registro! ;)

I wanted to drop this one off in Sydney, but didn't get the chance. And it's been burning a hole in my pocket for a while now anyway. I have been trying to drop it off for about a month, but every cache I seemed to go to was too small or a shape that wouldn't fit this ring. This isn't the most spectacular cache compared to the last one I visited, but the trackable just fitted in and it can continue on it's merry way. Good Luck!

A very quick and last minute day trip to Sydney. So close to making it back to Balmoral Beach... but so far. Only in town for a few hours and no time for real caching, just a quick pic from Circular Quay station platform before jumping on the train back to the airport. I wanted to drop this off.... but it's too big for any CBD sized caches so it's back on a plane south with me.
