Head to Omaha, Nebraska to meet up with his good buddy FIGARO (travel bug)
*take pictures along the way*
After their wildly successful hit movie “Pinocchio” came out in 1940, Geppetto and his cat Figaro were high on the winds of success. Their movie has generated over $117,000,000 to date, and it seemed the goodtimes would never end. Life had been a four-decade long party with the likes of Mutt & Jeff, Krazy Kat, The Snorks, and Thundercats galore. However, they were a couple of lonely old fools when the advent of computer animation came along. Suddenly there was no need for the older generation of hand-drawn cartoons, and these two found themselves lost in a world that no longer cared. And after a class-action lawsuit in which the star of the movie, Mr. Pinocchio himself gained the rights to all current and future movie revenue, it was time for some soul searching. The two parted ways to get out and see some of the nation that was so quick to turn their back on them.
Cut to the year 2003; Nearly 15 years later. Figaro had been living in an artist’s loft in Portland, Oregon under the guise of “Biminy J. Handlebrock” and performing twice nightly spoken work performances. Geppetto had moved to Maine to quote: “Catch me a little lobster, and do a lot of thinking”. By chance, both had caught a run of their once famous movie at a nationwide touring “Classics of Animation Film Festival” and began wondering how the other was faring. On a whim, Geppetto contacted Figaro through the help of a private investigator. Figaro was ecstatic to hear from his old friend and they immediately arranged to meet and catch up.
They chose to meet in their old college town of Omaha, Nebraska where Figaro and Geppetto first met as undergrads in Proffesor Pinsky’s drama class at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Please help Figaro and Geppetto meet up in the greater Omaha area. And take plenty of pictures along the way. They want to remember their travels!
Once Geppetto and Figaro are at last reunited, they figure they might as well stick together. So once together, they are free to go off and explore, but please keep them together. And remember, pictures are worth plenty of words.
But a quick word: Geppetto isn't much a people person and is kind of an antsy traveler. He doesn't like to stay put for long and also doesn't like to hitch a ride with the same person for great distances. So please be courteous
to our little friend's wishes.
