About This Item

Hélène Dutrieu (1877-1961) fut la première aviatrice brevetée en Belgique (1910) et une des pionnières dans le monde. A bord de son Farman, surnommé « Antoinette », elle remporte la coupe Fémina en atterrissant sur l'aérodrome du Palyvestre à Hyères. En 1913, elle devient la première femme aviatrice à recevoir la Légion d'honneur.

Helen Dutrieu (1877-1961) was the first aviator patented in Belgium (1910) and one of the pioneers in the world. Aboard his Farman, nicknamed "Antoinette", she won the Femina Cup by landing on the airfield Palyvestre Hyères. In 1913 she became the first woman aviator to receive the Legion of Honor.
